Cultivating Employee Well-being Within Your Organization

Employee wellbeing is foundational to thriving company culture and is led by executive buy-in and leadership. Well-being is a multifaceted topic as it applies to mental and physical health and the practice of healthy habits.

Pursuing feedback, delivering on priorities, and cultivating a great culture are all ways executives can promote employee well-being.

Get the Critical Feedback You Need

If you expect to lead from behind a desk, you’re doing it wrong. To ensure your team’s success, you need to be immersed in the culture and getting information from boots-on-the-ground. Understand your organization and know what drives team loyalty, retention, and well-being. I never presume to have all of the answers, and I want my senior leadership and managers to have the same curiosity about how an organization can continue improving and delivering for everybody.

Deliver on EX Priorities to Build Loyalty

Through soliciting feedback and surveying employees, you can discover which priorities are top of mind. Whether through benefits like paid maternity and paternity leave, 401(k) matching, mental health subscriptions, or remote work flexibility, seek ideas for how to round out the EX. Move priority initiatives up, and find where other programs can be modified to accommodate the extra costs. Most of the time, these investments more than pay for themselves.

Create a Culture that Manifests Greatness

Look around, and you will see that work-life balance is a top priority for successful organizations. Employee performance is positively affected by programs that promote wellness, rest, and mental and physical health.

Your job as CEO is to keep the enterprise moving upward all of the time. Employee well-being binds your team together so that each member feels a sense of belonging, leading to loyalty, creativity, and drive.
